Don't give me corn flakes when I hope For sweet and juicy cantaloupe. The greatest mornings I recall Began with nectar in a ball. These melons made by sturdy elves, Who roll tan balls onto the shelves. Cantaloupe fairies then come through To insert that orange and tasty goo. Mom says they grow them on the ground. They just lay there until they're found But it's cantaloupe magic that I feel, When I scoop that great goop off the peel. Oh! Cantaloupe, I love you so. I'll share a secret that I know: Folks may grow those nuts and berries But cantaloupes are kissed by fairies.
