Freddie Fibber

Freddie
Freddie Fibber lied a lot.
He'd say, "That's cold" when it was hot.
He thought that promises were silly
And Freddie broke them willy nilly.

He promised he would shut the door.
He didn't—rain got on the floor.
He said he'd wake his sister Kate.
He didn't and poor Kate was late.

Fred's mom said, "Son, I can't believe
The way you promise, then deceive.
There's just one way to earn folks' trust.
When you say you'll do it, then you must."

But Fred thought breaking them was fun
And kept on fooling everyone.
He promised he would go to bed
But played Nintendo™ games instead.

Once Mom said he could go and play
But shut him in his room all day.
"I'll cook your favorite meal," she said.
But gave him Brussels sprouts instead.

As Freddie chewed a Brussels sprout
He thought, "I'll cut this lying out."
From that time on Fred's word was true
The things he promised he would do.

Word spread throughout the neighborhood:
"That Freddie Fibber has turned good."
His mom is proud and filled with joy.
Her Fred is now an honest boy.
